Daniel Roberts and Alex Perry swell the ranks of London’s fastest growing PR firm

The Romans has appointed Alex Perry and Daniel Roberts, both from One Green Bean, as client services director and creative director respectively. Both join the agency’s leadership team, reporting to Lucy McGettigan, who was herself made partner in the business last year. Daniel will also work closely with CEO Joe Mackay-Sinclair as the business looks to continue to expand its operations into new markets, having successfully launched overseas offerings in Dubai and Brooklyn over the past 12 months.

Alex started his career at Burson-Marsteller, working with Mackay-Sinclair in its consumer division. He then went on to 3 Monkeys Zeno for seven years as director, with two more at One Green Bean, part of the Havas Group, as head of PR. A PR Week 30 Under 30 alumnus, he has led domestic and international campaigns for the likes of Coca-Cola, Budweiser, Kerry Foods, Domino’s and Virgin, which includes leading the hugely successful UK launch of Virgin Voyages’ new cruise line.

Daniels spent the majority of his career as an advertising art director and senior creative at Grey London before joining One Green Bean as creative director in 2019. Creative highlights include the multi-award winning Close The Lid for Harpic, The Forgotten Chapter for Durex, and Long Live The Local for Britain’s Beer Alliance.

Lucy McGettigan, partner at The Romans added, “You wait months for top talent to transpire and then two turn up together. Despite the climate, we’re optimistically forecasting significant growth this year, and Alex and Dan will inject the perfect combination of left-brain commerciality and right-brain creativity to help us continue to create culturally relevant campaigns.”

Daniel Roberts, commented, "It’s one thing to be a rebellious creative boutique agency, but it’s very rare an agency’s output gets better the bigger it becomes. As The Romans continue to compete against global networks and advertising agencies, I’ll be looking to export its culture-first approach into fully integrated work that resonates with the real world.”

Alex Perry, said, “The road to The Romans has felt like an inevitability, having spent years seeing the agency deliver the type of work you’re jealous of, win the awards you want and build a team that looks incredibly exciting to be a part of. Despite rapid growth in both team and business, with an ever-growing client roster of leading brands, it’s an agency that hasn’t lost its tight knit culture or soul. Working with Lucy in 2023 to take the agency to stellar heights is going to be a whole load of fun”.

The Romans currently has a headcount of 70 in the UK, with a fee income of approximately £6.5M. Its client list includes the likes of Unilever, Lidl, OVO Energy, Method, Ecover and Jameson and it was named PR Agency of the Year 2022 by Campaign Magazine.
