'Walking Dead' creator Robert Kirkman's Skybound will adapt Andrew Pyper’s upcoming novel The Residence as a hybrid of scripted and unscripted series, with each season focusing on true stories from a different presidential administration. The novel extrapolates on the true accounts of President Franklin Pierce and First Lady Jane Pierce, who lost their child in a tragic accident shortly before inauguration, then reported paranormal visions, auditory hallucinations, and other cryptic phenomena while living in the White House.
The series will follow a similar format to Radical’s recent hit 'Mars' (NatGeo) and upcoming series 'Grant' (History Channel). These cinema-documentaries combine fictional scripted parts, rooted in historical fact, with unscripted expert interviews. Season one will focus on the Pierces’ story as it is told in Andrew's novel, while subsequent seasons will explore paranormal experiences reported during other presidencies, including Lincoln, Kennedy, and Truman. Author Andrew Pyper to executive produce alongside Skybound and RadicalMedia.
Andrew’s novel will go on sale in September 2020 and will be published by Skybound books, an imprint of Simon and Schuster.
