Mel joins from Chelsea Pictures

Sales and talent rep Mel Fong has been hired by The Quarry to represent its diverse and talented roster of editors.

After taking a job at Tomboy Films and representing some of the best British comedy directors; Armando Iannuci, Kirk Jones and Declan Lowney, Mel returned to her advertising roots with the role of head of sales at 2AM Films. She had an enjoyable period repping an eclectic roster of directors, including Harmony Korine, and signing talent - most notably Becky Martin (Peep Show, Veep).

After 2AM Films and a two year stint at Rokkit, Mel took on the role of marketing director for the London and New York branches of Absolute Post, where she held a hugely successful promotional party. However, Mel missed working directly with directors and artists, and so she went independent — taking on an impressive range of prod cos, edit houses, post and art companies. In 2021 Mel joined Lisa Mehling and Nell Jordon of Chelsea Pictures to rep their creatively diverse award winning roster of directors in the London market — and now, this year, Mel is taking on The Quarry, the industry’s favourite editor house as one of her clients.

Toby Abbott, managing director at The Quarry, says: “Having asserted herself as a dynamic and innovative representative in multiple industries, we’re absolutely delighted to welcome Mel to our team. With her talents extending above and beyond Sales, proving to be just as accomplished in the world of art and exhibitions too, we feel honoured that Mel has chosen The Quarry as her next client.”

“I’m super stoked to be representing The Quarry,” said Mel. “Their editors are exceptionally talented and highly awarded. With Tor and Toby at the helm they can only grow from strength to strength. Everyone in the industry loves them so I feel very honoured to be part of their team."

Beyond sales and repping, Mel has worked proactively to showcase and platform some of the best female talent in the art world. She co-founded Higher Pitch, which turned into a well received exhibition in Soho, and eventually took a second exhibition to the Cannes Advertising festival, which transported the show - ‘Art Sells’ - from a warehouse in Shoreditch to Regents Park. Mel is also responsible for launching ‘Not By Committee’, a new fine art concept which finds brand sponsors for large scale art projects.
