The Producers and Director Cam March Strike Worldwide Success in straight 8 shootout
Cam and The Producers score Silver for “The Pros and Cons of Bob”
Cam March, an up and coming young director supported by The Producers, has nabbed a major global accolade by taking out the Silver prize in the latest straight 8 short film competition.
For those unfamiliar with the straight 8 format, entrants are required to develop and shoot a 2.5 minute film on one roll of Super 8 film, shot in story order sequence with no editing, no post-production and a separate unsynced soundtrack. Entrants have to send off the completed and undeveloped roll of film along with the separate soundtrack to the competition organisers. So the creators never even see their film before they are judged.
The latest edition of straight 8 had the theme of 'Nature'. March wrote and developed a quirky script called 'The Pros and Cons of Bob' which was shot and produced via The Producers. With entries coming from all over the world, picking up metal was a major accomplishment for this burgeoning director.
Says March: “Not knowing if the film was exposed, in focus or if it had even made it safely all the way to the UK was all part of the fun. What a whirlwind! It was an extremely liberating process putting our film in the hands of the 8mm gods to be showcased to some of the world’s best companies. An incredible privilege and honour that the festival offers. Every director should embark on their own straight 8 adventure, I promise it’s worth it."
The Producers are proud to support the next generation of filmmakers and
look forward to introducing March to the industry. For any enquiries,
