Collaboration announced for the forthcoming NHM Commons launch

The Many and the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County (NHMLAC) are excited to reveal their collaboration on an integrated campaign to launch NHM Commons, a new wing and community hub located on the southwest corner of the Natural History Museum (NHM) in Exposition Park. Set to open in September 2024, the new space is a remarkable 75,000-square-foot inside-outside space with many free experiences. It will feature Gnatalie, a striking 70-foot long-necked sauropod with green bones, the thought-provoking mural LA History: A Mexican Perspective by Barbara Carrasco, and various areas for community engagement, including a café, retail space, and a 400-seat multipurpose theatre. In addition, the expansive Judith Perlstein Welcome Centre will feature new exhibits, displays and ticketing desks for visitors and members.

Anticipating implementing The Many's Connections approach, this collaboration utilises creative media solutions to engage audiences locally and globally with the story of NHM Commons. The campaign aims to foster deeper community ties and encourage active participation and immersive engagement, reflecting NHMLAC's goal of bringing fresh perspectives that enhance public engagement and drive visitation among new and existing visitors and members.

“In partnership with the Natural History Museum for the NHM Commons project, we're planning to harness our extensive expertise in digital channels and participatory marketing," states Davis Jones, head of media and strategy at The Many. “Through pioneering digital storytelling and interactive media, we aim to ensure NHM Commons' vast resources are accessible to an extended audience, enriching the museum experience in this digital era and fostering a participatory culture around the museum's offerings."

This collaboration will utilise the full spectrum of social media, online advertising, and creative digital content to engage and inspire a diverse audience. The campaign will seek to ignite curiosity and stimulate both virtual and physical visits to the museum, supporting NHMLAC's mission to inspire wonder, discovery and responsibility for our natural and cultural worlds.
