Contemporary Art gallery aims to represent and support local Toronto artists

Announcing the opening of The Local Gallery, a contemporary art gallery in the heart of Little Italy proudly representing and supporting local artists. The gallery’s vibe is pop art meets street art with a dash of sports and a limited edition and one-of-a-kind design collectibles. With its focus on showcasing local Toronto artists, the goal of The Local Gallery is to give new and emerging artists in the city a platform to display their work and undeniable talent, helping broaden the spectrum of artists who are the cultural heartbeat of our city.

The gallery is headed by Pepe Bratanov, partner and curator, and the artist behind Peppy Colours; a playful and thought-provoking pop art exploration that finds the extraordinary in the ordinary things that surround us. The approach behind his art stems from his advertising background where combining simple visuals in unexpected ways to get the viewer’s attention and evoke emotions is always key.

The first roster of Toronto-based artists currently featured in the gallery include:

As Pepe Bratanov, partner and curator of The Local Gallery puts it: “There’s so much creative talent in Toronto and supporting local artists means nurturing the imagination, culture and creativity in the city. We look for artists that are different from anything else that’s currently out there, and look for works that are figurative, but also more experimental, playful and expressive in nature. You need to draw energy from the art you own and we are here to provide you with art that is aesthetically, culturally and emotionally charged.”

The Local Gallery is brought to you by The Local Collective (TLC). As part of their ethos, TLC believes in giving back to the local community whenever possible, working with clients such as Roncesvalles BIA on supporting local campaigns such as NOT FOR LEASE, or Food Banks Canada developing the National COVID emergency campaign which helped to raise 150 million dollars for local communities across the Country.

Located at 621 College Street, The Local Gallery is open Monday through Saturday 11AM to 5PM, or by appointment to view and explore the space.
