The Lion’s Share has been selected as an honorable mention in the Best World Changing Idea APAC and Creativity categories in the Fast Company 2020 World Changing Ideas Awards. The Lion’s Share was founded by FINCH in 2018 and is part of the United Nations Development Programme.
Says Christopher Nelius, the co-founder of The Lion’s Share initiative: “Animals are part of our culture; we use them to teach our children the most fundamental things about life. Without them we’ve lost what it means to be human.”
Through The Lion’s Share, the corporate world can now make a contribution each time an animal appears in their ads, raising money for wildlife conservation, habitats, and animal welfare. A simple way to make a powerful difference where the private sector and conservation world come together and find opportunities for real systemic change in fighting climate change. The fund purchased 260,000 hectares of rainforest to protect the last remaining Sumatran Tigers, Rhinos and Orangutans in Indonesia’s Leuser Ecosystem, and has completed upgrading digital radio communication systems in the Niassa National Reserve in Mozambique to support law enforcement operations in protecting wildlife. Sir David Attenborough is a special ambassador for the fund, with Flora and Fauna’s CEO Mark Rose being on the Steering Committee.
It is increasing the number of companies on board, including Clemenger BBDO, Mars, D.A.M, JCDecaux and Gucci. To find out how your company can make a difference visit: https://thelionssharefund.com.
