The Mexico-based, world-class production services specialists partner with Little Black Book to help celebrate the very best of Latin American creativity

The Immortal Awards is delighted to reveal The Lift, the Mexican production service specialists, as the competition’s first ever LATAM jury partner.

The brand new partnership is in place for this year’s competition, which will see the regional LATAM jury be judged in-person for the first time ever.

On Tuesday November 7th, the jury will meet in Mexico City to decide on the region’s best work of the year, demonstrating both The Immortal Awards and The Lift’s commitment in celebrating and showcasing LATAM’s very best creative projects, companies and individuals to a global audience.

The Immortal Awards introduced regional jury days to ensure that creativity from across the globe is judged properly and equally, with regionally based creatives - who have intimate knowledge of the market and understand its cultural nuances - selecting the best work to go through to the global, final round of judging.

Last year’s jury selected four projects to qualify for the global round as LATAM Finalists, with one of those projects -  Gahr WeCapital’s Data Tienda, submitted by DDB Mexico - going on to win an Immortal Award, the first time a project that’s qualified from the LATAM jury day has won one.

Avelino Rodríguez, founder of The Lift, says: “The Lift has always sought to recognise excellence in production since it was founded in 2005 and we are very happy to partner with The Immortal Awards this year. These awards are a fantastic platform for a range of projects to be seen on an international stage and this inspires me, and the rest of The Lift, through the showcase of ambitious ideas and execution. It’s so vital to have outlets for the work produced in Latin America so people recognize its brilliance. I remember in the early years of The Lift how much time and effort we had to put in to showcase our projects and make connections in the international production industry. Now, because of awards like the Immortals, it is far easier, and supports the next generation of filmmakers and producers. I would encourage anyone to submit their work as it is always such an inspiration to see what’s getting made in Latin America!”

Emma Wilkie, awards director of The Immortal Awards, adds: “We’re over the moon to be teaming up with Avelino and the team at The Lift in bringing our LATAM jury to life this year. Over the past three years, our competition in the region has gone from strength to strength - with entry numbers increasing, the juries getting stronger each year and, in 2022, seeing our first ever Immortal winner from the region. This partnership allows us - with the support, passion  and expertise of The Lift - to give an even greater platform to the region on the global stage. We can’t wait to see which work this year’s jury will select as LATAM Finalists and compete in our global jury day for a prize.”

On why LATAM creativity excels on the global stage, Avelino says: “It has every possible location you could need for a project – you have colonial towns, modern apartment buildings and houses, untouched rainforest, and pristine beaches. The local talent has grown more sophisticated at supporting large international productions, and the amazing creatives I’ve worked with here are so passionate and dedicated to their craft while being excellent collaborators. Mexico specifically has world class art directors and set designers who can build virtually anything.”
