Zoom workouts aim to raise money for the largest domestic abuse charity in the UK

The Industry Club, specialist recruitment and training provider for the creative communications industry, is planning a mass fitness workout on Zoom to raise cash for Refuge, the charity that supports women and children at risk of domestic abuse.

Presented by top American personal trainer, Sean Girlus, Fit for Purpose takes place on Friday 22nd May at 1.00pm. The Industry Club will donate £1.00 to Refuge for every person who joins the half-our session.

With its staff either furloughed or working from home, The Industry Club started running online fitness sessions at the start of the lockdown as a way for colleagues to stay in regular social contact with each other.

Looking forward to Fit for Purpose, Melissa Smith, The Industry Club’s managing director, said: ‘The benefits of exercise for both physical and mental health are well known, so it’s no surprise that the uptake on our three weekly fitness sessions among our staff is really high. Three of our colleagues live alone and they’re really enjoying the health and social benefits of these Zoom events. For some, it’s been their first experience of fitness – and they’re loving it.

Fit for Purpose takes this to the next level. We want to expand the class and include our candidates, clients and colleagues across the creative comms industry and at the same time, support Refuge, whose work in supporting people at risk of domestic abuse is so crucial right now.’

Join Fit for Purpose on May 22nd, 1pm via zoom here.

Based in London, The Industry Club provides recruitment, executive search and training for the creative communications industry, with specialist consultants in the project management, account management, finance and resource management, creative and strategy/senior client service disciplines. The company’s training and networking events include workshops, bespoke in-house training and breakfast briefings. In May, The Industry Club launched Lockdown and Learn, a series webinars and workshops presented via Zoom.

Refuge is the UK’s largest domestic abuse charity. It provides services for women and children who have experienced violence, advocates for a strong criminal justice response to perpetrators and seeks to prevent violence through education, training and awareness campaigns.
