The Gate Hires Wunderman Thompson's Rob Bovington and Stephen Webley as Creative Directors

Rob Bovington and Stephen Webley have joined The Gate as creative directors from Wunderman Thompson. They will report directly to chief creative officer, Lucas Peon.

In their previous position at Wunderman Thompson, Rob and Stephen produced much acclaimed work for HSBC UK, Ribena, and Nespresso. After initially pairing at Tribal DDB in the 2000s, their career grew through successful roles in some of the best creative departments in London, such as Adam & Eve DDB, DLKW Lowe and latterly JWT. During their career, their work for the likes of Budweiser, Volkswagen, Hasbro, Johnson & Johnson and Unilever has won a number of key awards at some of the leading national and international festivals, such as Cannes Lions, Clios, Epica and Creative Circle.

Lucas Peon, chief creative officer at The Gate, says: "I have been a fan of Rob and Steve for years and they would be at the top of our hiring list every single time. They are an award-winning team with a history of creating game-changing work across all mediums and will play a pivotal role in the agency.”

Rob and Stephen says: "We were impressed with the vision from the management team and everyone’s appetite for outstanding work. We believe surrounding yourself with good people is the key to making great work, and The Gate has plenty of them.”

Rob and Stephen join The Gate on the back of a number of wins and new campaigns. The agency was recently appointed to the Buzz Bingo integrated business and won the pitches for Pension Wise and DKMS. It picked up a Kinsale Shark for its ‘Locked Down And Out’ campaign and recently launched the Nobody Is Normal campaign for Childline to rave reviews.

Part of MSQ, The Gate was named Oystercatchers Small Agency of the Year in 2018 and is the current Financial Services Forum Marketing Effectiveness Agency of the Year.
