The Essential List: Miles Henry
From the renowned Italia Conti School to Grand Central Recording Studios in Great Marlborough Street, Miles’ career path in sound has seen him step from one side of the microphone to the other. An opportunity to move across the boards during student work experience at the Little Bromley Theatre ignited his passion for sound. This led to a course at the celebrated Rose Bruford College, where he gained a BA in Performance Sound before joining GCRS in 2015.
Miles reached a pivotal moment in his career in October 2020, creating his piece of high profile solo sound design, soundtracked by the Cinematic Orchestra and Roots Manuva. ‘Taking Flight’, a beautiful, thought-provoking film directed by Luke Nutt work for Black Minds Matter UK, explores challenges and prejudices still faced by so many young black men and women.
In 2022 Miles moved into Grand Central Recording Studios’ ADR Department under the watchful eye of lead ADR Recordist Tristan Rose. Miles quickly started gaining some impressive credits including The Detectorists, Guilt, Grace, Dalgliesh, and Romantic Getaway. His deep understanding of theatre and artistic background undoubtedly makes him one of the most promising emerging ADR Recordists today.
