The MTArt Agency artist's striking work is publicly available at St James’s Market Pavilion

The Crown Estate and MTArt Artist Jennifer Abessira have joined forces to create a unique art exhibition celebrating Her Majesty’s historic reign in the run up to the Platinum Jubilee Central Weekend, which takes place from 2nd to 5th June. The exhibition will be publicly available at St James’s Market Pavilion from May 28th.

Her Majesty The Queen is the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee after 70 years of service. MTArt Artist Jennifer Abessira is known for her use of pink, using it to celebrate and highlight either banal moments of our daily lives or historical instants that shaped a whole generation. With an accessible and playful aesthetic, Jennifer’s work gives everyone the same level of enjoyment - no matter their age or background. This particular aesthetic led The Crown Estate to commission her to celebrate the Jubilee of the Queen and show deep respect to this extraordinary historical character of both the 20th and the 21st century.

In addition to this, Jennifer's retrospective show in St James’s Market Pavilion last year was received with acclaim by diverse audiences online and offline - such an appreciation signals a new demographic for The Crown Estate to reach with their celebrations.

For Jennifer, the pink waves in her work represent the mighty ocean's restlessness. It also represents faith, hope, and joy even in the deepest of troubles. This element symbolises vastness, depth, and continuity. The use of yellow, meanwhile, comes to reinforce the reference that the artist makes to the Bauhaus movement, one where all the arts and crafts were equal and were for all.

Award-winning artist agency MTArt is an official public art supplier of The Crown Estate. As such, MTArt has the ability to activate the St James’s Market Pavilion space with rotating art exhibitions. For this exhibition, MTArt Agency’s creative agency team has supported Jennifer to source archive images that are publicly available - something that was key to convey a sense of universality.
