The Corner Shop Welcomes Directors Relta and Emma Branderhorst

With her third short film premiering at the Berlinale Film Festival to continued critical acclaim, EMMA BRANDERHORST joins The Corner Shop with a uniquely mature body of work for a young director. Her short film ‘Spotless’ (2022), showcased the issues of period poverty and prevailed on the festival circuit, winning the Krystal Bear at Berlinale Generation, the Cinekid award for Best Short Film, Gold at the Young Director Awards and the Grand Prix at Regard in Canada, qualifying it for the Oscars.  

Emma consciously represents stories from the female POV. Her tenacity for storytelling is frequently driven through casting and performance to strive for the most authentic outcomes. Her talent as a director has offered up the unique power to captivate across a generation of audiences and take on the immense responsibility of telling stories that serve the greater good.

RELTA is a British-Persian director building a genre-defining universe of his own. Approaching his work as a director with such musical perspective, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that RELTA first spent his teenage years producing hip-hop beats in his bedroom. While his music went on to garner millions of streams and collaborations with Grammy Nominated Artists, RELTA pivoted his passion for story-telling into the visual medium and is on a mission to champion emerging acts and highlight under represented stories to the masses. He’s directed a range of documentaries, fashion films and music promos for the next generation of artists, often working with them hand-in-hand to develop their entire visual campaign.
