London’s fastest-growing independent agency, The Corner, today announces two new hires. Harri Owen joins as Head of Engagement, while Nicky Barnes becomes Head of Production.
Owen, an award-winning broadcast, digital, social media and branded content strategist, was most recently Digital Strategy Consultant at Ogilvy & Mather. With 20 years’ experience in digital innovation at agencies including BBH and DraftFCB, her enviable portfolio boasts the likes of Vodafone, Disney, ITV and BMW.
She will be The Corner’s digital figurehead, championing digital by leading operations internally and inspiring clients externally. The Corner currently manages social activity for the likes of Coca-Cola and Fuller’s, and Owen will be charged with developing this portfolio as well as broadening the agency’s technical capabilities.
Barnes, whose career also spans 20 years in TV and production roles, most recently worked on IKEA ‘Beds' and Boots at Mother London. In 2012 she co-founded Portmanteau Club, offering small agencies and start-ups support in executing cross-channel productions, and spent six years as Head of TV and Producer at Fallon – working on award winning campaigns including Cadbury’s ‘Gorilla', Sony ‘Balls’ and Skoda ‘Cake’.
As The Corner continues to execute an ever-increasing amount of content for clients, Barnes will be charged with formalising and growing this capability.
Neil Simpson, founding partner at The Corner London said: “The Corner is a collaboration of advertising, technology and culture, and this is a real statement of intent for us as we look to further grow the business.
“Harri has won countless awards in recent years – most notably for the Driving Dogs campaign for a charity in New Zealand – and will drive our technology credentials. Nicky has a fantastic CV, and will strengthen our content creation capabilities as we continue to see greater demand for this from our clients.”
