The Business We Love Is Wasting Millions of Pounds: We Want to Fix It

Little Black Book’s founder and CEO, Matt Cooper, explains how LBB becoming ‘far more than a news platform’ will benefit all members in an increasingly tough economic climate and help creativity.

At LBB, our plan was always quite simple; to grow a global business that helped the world of advertising, production and marketing to come together. What started as a small idea is now one of the world's largest platforms with paywall-free content for the business of creativity. 

Since we began, we have been regularly building in more functional, time-saving tools and value to our company membership. The ultimate goal has always been exactly that: time and money can be put where it works hardest - into your great creative product and people. So, first, we launched a creative news platform. Then we began celebrating creative excellence with a global award that levelled the playing field AND made sure work was judged both locally and globally. 
 
But the worlds of marketing, advertising and creativity are changing faster than ever - and times are tougher than usual right now. Last year, we added to LBB by growing a smart, free-to-view archive that increases traffic, profiles talent further and supercharges your research. We have built all of this into membership, keeping costs low. And we truly believe we can help potentially save millions of wasted spend out of the business that we love.

Why? 

Well, I was involved in the world of archiving for some time (I launched Beam TV back in 1999) but I feel today that this core part of most businesses has gone a little bit backwards in advertising. We hear from SO many companies who have staff wasting hours hunting for lost files in old costly databases that are no longer useful, staffed or relevant. We hear stories about agencies with 300 separate Vimeo accounts, production companies with various different archives, websites and filing systems created by multiple different creatives and producers. And the worst part is, they all seem to be so hard to manage. It's impossible for most businesses to find stuff or get the views they need.
 
So, as well as building more into our platform, we realised there were two other ways we could be saving people hundreds of hours and thousands of pounds - a digital archive service and a video hosting solution. Our new service arm of LBB is a team of archivists who can now manage the credits and organisation of all your work and the video hosting solution is something so beautifully simple: ALL of our videos have embed codes above them so that they can be pulled in by anyone, to any website at any time.
 
In the Beta testing phases, many told us this new LBB site was working harder than their website ever used to (some gaining over 10,000 views a week by using our archive team and embedding our video into their websites!) and we hope that very soon that you’ll feel that too.
