Toronto-based creative studio Tendril has announced their appointment of Sarah Arruda as Executive Producer and Matt Jakob as Creative Director as part of the company's strategy to further expand their interactive offerings to brands, entertainment, and technology companies alike.
While Tendril has established a global name for itself as an exceptional creative studio known for branded work for high-end brands such as Nike and British Airways, plus entertainment works like their episode opener for hit TV series American Gods, more recently the company has expanded into the interactive realm through close creative partnerships with tech giants Facebook and Microsoft.
Executive Producer Sarah Arruda brings years of production experience in the interactive space, having led a diverse array of projects over the course of her career with some of the world’s leading tech companies such as Google, Facebook, and Microsoft. Her projects have included large-scale interactive installations on the White House Lawn and on the catwalks of Fashion Week New York; Emmy-award-winning interactive documentaries with the New York Times; and innovative projects with cultural institutions such as the National Film Board of Canada and the Copenhagen Philharmonic.
Creative Director Matt Jakob’s exciting portfolio of works include AR applications, physical installations and interactive experiences for clients ranging from tech forward companies like Google, Apple and IBM to cultural institutions and museums such as Tate Modern, Bartlett School of Architecture and Dulwich Picture Gallery. Jakob combines his love for traditional mediums with realtime methods and experiential design to create award-winning experiences for brands like Diesel, Jaguar, Burberry and Chanel.
Together, Arruda and Jakob intend to evolve the celebrated artistry of Tendril into new, exciting, and uncharted mediums. The two have a longstanding work partnership, having previously collaborated on a variety of internationally celebrated projects during their time at Nexus Studios in London. “Matt and I are thrilled to join this stellar team of artists with the intention to integrate their reputation for visually stunning work with the latest tech and newest mediums,” says Arruda. “We’re excited to carve out new opportunities for our clients that leverage our integrated approach to their benefit.”
“Tendril continues to evolve in wonderful ways. We always aim to bring a unique perspective to our work, but the addition of Sarah and Matt is game changer,” says Kate Bate, Tendril Partner and EP. “While we intend to remain strongly anchored in our visual storytelling roots, with these added competencies and this team’s very high bar for a certain caliber of results in the interactive space, we’ll be pushing limits and taking our visual stories in new and fascinating directions.”
