Tenacious D’s long awaited third album tells the story of their difficult ascent back to the big leagues after the exceptional and unremitting failure of their feature film, ‘Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny’...

 

While Jack Black went on to achieve startling Hollywood fame, Gass descended into a spiral of obsessive, maniacal behaviour resulting in the attempted homicide of his old bandmate. Fortunately Val Kilmer was on hand to save Black’s life, and after this dramatic low point ‘The D’ decided to reform and enlist the help of rock gods like Dave Grohl to whip them back into shape so they could finally record the greatest album of all time.

 

One thing the above story is not is ‘true’; two things it is are ‘very funny’, and ‘the basis for Jeremy Konner’s side-splitting short film promo for the band’s latest album’. If a short film chock full of A-list cameos, shootings, and the recording of the greatest album of all time doesn’t excite you, then don’t click beneath:
