As Group Chief Creative Officer

TBWA\India has appointed Parixit Bhattacharya to the position of Chief Creative Officer of the TBWA Group in India, including retail and shopper marketing company The Integer Group®, and recent digital acquisition, Magnon Group.

Shiv Sethuraman, TBWA\India Group Chief Executive Officer said, “I must, first, thank Rahul Sengupta for the outstanding job he has done over the last four years. Under his leadership, TBWA has not only produced visible and talked about work but gone on to win awards at Cannes Lions, the Clio Awards, One Show and Spikes Asia for the first time in its history.”

Commenting on Bhattacharya’s appointment, Sethuraman added, “Parx has fantastic digital credentials, a global outlook, and is obsessive about integrated work that is both award-winning and ‘on brand’.  As the TBWA Group in India widens its footprint to cover the vital areas of digital as well as retail and shopper marketing, we are looking to him to take our creative work to the next level.”

Bhattacharya joins TBWA from JWT Singapore where he was Creative Director working with clients such as HSBC, Johnson & Johnson and Bayer. After beginning his career in the planning department of Leo Burnett Mumbai in 2001, he went on to work with various agencies in Mumbai, Singapore and Dubai. So far, he has made couches run amok in a city; come up with the world’s first social media answering machine; got a teenager to outrun Asafa Powell; created a mobile app that can get First Aid before an ambulance; and formed a society for the well-being of young homeowners, amongst others.

He has created cross-platform experiences for brands like Sony, Youth Olympic Games, HSBC, Kit Kat, Bajaj, Harvey Nichols, MasterCard, Fiat, KFC, Time Magazine and Heinz.

Bhattacharya’s work is internationally recognized – he’s won the Design Grand Prix at Dubai Lynx 2011; the Digital Grand Prix and Best of Show at CCA Singapore 2012; and the Mobile Grand Prix at AdStars 2012. He also was the first copywriter in the Middle East to have won three Cannes Lions in the same year. His short film, ‘Dear Dolly’, was screened at ADFEST’s ‘Fabulous Four’. He’s also served as a tutor at Award School Singapore.

Bhattacharya said, “In joining TBWA, I feel an uncanny DNA match. I hope to fit into TBWA like a pair of well-worn jeans. At TBWA\India, my aim is to create iconic work that is synonymous with ‘creativity with a conscience’ – work that makes the brands we build more loveable and an inseparable part of the social fabric of India.”

John Hunt, TBWA’s Worldwide Creative Director, commented, “Parx represents a new breed of young, creative leaders – he is totally at home in the digital space and has an outstanding creative reputation. We believe he will make a great contribution to our group in India and are absolutely thrilled that he’s joining the team.”

Keith Smith, President – International at TBWA Worldwide said, “We are all very excited that Parx has agreed to return to India and take on this role. His international experience will be invaluable to our team in India, and in helping them do great work in every aspect of brand-building communications.”
