More than 10,000 entries are made every year and majority of the entrants are American companies and individuals. In such a competitive situation, TBWA\HAKUHODO, a full-service advertising company based in Japan, won Gold, Silver and Bronze and became one of 'The Top Winners', the agency networks that won the most 2013 ANDY awards.
TBWA\HAKUHODO aims to be the most innovative company by developing totally new and unique business models. The agency established an internal Human Centered Open Innovation (HCOI) team. The HCOI team works to develop platforms that can bring together and unite technologies and companies to develop solutions to fulfill various consumer needs. The first initiative was the development of an 'Off-Grid House' MIRAI NIHON, utilizing technologies from several different companies.
