TBWA & one2free Play Pixel Snake

ADD TO COLLECTION

How better to celebrate CNY 2013 than with a game of Snake?

TBWA & one2free Play Pixel Snake

TBWA’s Digital Arts Network Hong Kong has created the world’s first self-contained, playable games that live within Facebook posts. The games, created for Hong Kong mobile operator one2free, can be played directly from the newsfeed, across both desktop and mobile devices.

“Until now, social content within the Facebook feed was limited to text, images and video”, said Luke Eid, Head of TBWA’s Digital Arts Network Hong Kong. “When one2free came to us to launch their cloud-based mobile gaming service, Game Box, we didn’t want to follow the norm and create a piece of content that would only get a few likes from our staff and then fade into the abyss. We had to find a new way to create something that was equally fun and as easy to use as Game Box itself.”

To do this, TBWA\DAN Hong Kong and one2free decided to go back to the 1980s and pay tribute to some of the original games that led to today’s modern gaming, bringing them back to life in a completely new way within Facebook posts.

The first game, one2free Invaders, launched at the end of January. The second game in the series, Pixel Snake, launches today to coincide with the Year of the Snake for Chinese New Year.

More games will be developed based on requests from one2free’s Facebook fans. To play and share the games to your timeline go to http://gameon.one2free.com or play directly from one2free’s timeline at http://www.facebook.com/one2freefans.

Joehan Martinus, Director of Mass Marketing for one2free, commented, “This definitely adds a new dimension of interactivity and social sharing for our loyal Facebook fans.” He added, “Hopefully this opens up the doors to a new form of social content on Facebook that people will love to play and share.”
