“When I met Jordan, we realized that together we knew every living...and dead...comedian out there,” Schiller says, with a giggle. Sound like an overstatement? Not for a man of Schiller’s talent, who began his career on “SNL” writing alongside comedy icons John Belushi, Gilda Radner, and Chevy Chase. Schiller went on to direct Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd in the internationally popular feature film “Nothing Lasts Forever.” He has directed innumerable laughter-provoking commercial campaigns, which have garnered numerous industry accolades and awards including three Cannes Lions, several Clio Awards, and the International Andy Award of Excellence, twice.

“Comedy people understand one another,” continues Schiller on his reasons for joining Superlounge. “Actors, writers, comedians, directors: we are all part of this hooked-in community. So I knew working with Jordan and EP Dave Farrell, who each bring years of experience to their roles at the company, was a perfect fit. I also liked the name. It sounds huge. And although it’s new, it sounds like you’ve heard it before.”

For Superlounge’s Brady, he continues to wonder: “Why us?” He says with reverence to Schiller’s pedigree. But seriously, Brady and Farrell are thrilled that Schiller has decided to join their expanding roster of directorial talent. “I grew up watching his short films,” says Brady, “And I still reference them. He is an incredible talent, and wonderful to work with.”

Recent projects for Tom Schiller include a Hefty commercial, where he got to hang 2,000 air fresheners in a Breakfast Nook (a “career highlight,” he says), as well as a New York Lottery spot with dogs (“that’s always fun,” he notes), which broke over the Holidays 2010. And of course, the “Real Men of Genius” commercial campaign for Bud Light. Concluding with The Schillervision Manifesto, Schiller’s goals to direct via Superlounge are focused and simple. He concludes: “I want to continue to delight viewers and make millions of dollars for all involved.”

About Director Tom Schiller:
From the age of 11, Tom Schiller knew he wanted to be a Director, forcing kids on his block to watch his first short, “The Door,” repeatedly. And charging admission. Growing up on the set of “I Love Lucy” – his dad was a Writer – further fueled his desire to entertain. After a stint working with the designer Eames, Tom apprenticed with filmmaker Robert Snyder on Buckminster Fuller, Anais Nin and de Kooning documentaries before directing his own “Henry Miller Asleep & Awake.” This logically led to a job on “Saturday Night Live.” He doesn’t understand it either.

As an original Writer during the first five years of “SNL,” among other sketches, Tom can lay claim to “Samurai” and the short film segments collectively known as “Schiller’s Reel.” During his 11-year connection with the show, he won several Writer’s Guild awards and three Emmys. Tom went onto write and direct an MGM feature entitled “Nothing Lasts Forever,” starring an impressive cast including Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd. The film was never released in the states but has developed an underground cult following in the Netherlands. Despite the title, “NLF” continues to be honored with the occasional screening, including at the Lincoln Center, BAM, Cinefamily Hollywood, and the Alamo Drafthouse in Austin.

Schiller now finds great satisfaction in directing commercials. Combining his filmmaking expertise with a unique sense of humor, Tom helps to create 30-second gems that delight TV viewers and make millions of dollars for clients. His award-winning advertising work has garnered him three Cannes Lions, several Clio Awards, and the International Andy Award of Excellence twice. He doesn’t understand that either.
