Comedy director shares the laughs with US production company

Superlounge Signs Joe Schaak

Director Joe Schaak started off 2012 with a star-studded Super Bowl spot for Century 21. His newest move is to sign with national production company Superlounge, which went “all-comedy” with its directorial roster earlier this year.

"Joe's spot-making skills are masterful,” says Superlounge Co-Founder/Director Jordan Brady. “He always infuses his work with a sublime wit. We at Superlounge are delighted to have him on board.”

Superlounge, says Schaak, is the perfect production company for him at this point in his career: “I’ve had a very strong year so far,” explains the Director. “Starting out with the Super Bowl spot for Century 21 in January, every project I’ve shot has been really strong creative with great agencies. I believe Superlounge will open my talent up to a whole new world of opportunities -- to creatives that I have yet to work with, and I am very excited about the possibilities.”

Schaak also notes that he was drawn to Superlounge by its boutique structure. “Superlounge is very nimble as a company,” he explains. “They are able to be strategic and competitive in the current market, working within the budgets of today’s economy. And that’s important to me.” Executive Producer and Co-Founder Dave Farrell was a big draw for Schaak, and he has enjoyed getting to know fellow comedy director Jordan Brady. That Superlounge has set its focus on building a stellar comedy roster was also a deciding factor for Schaak. “I’ve always enjoyed collaborating with other directors throughout my career,” he concludes. “It’s inspiring to talk about the work, always striving to make it as good as it can be. Jordan, his reputation, his work, and his friendship were the cherry on the top of a terrific opportunity.”

Joe Schaak has directed more than 200 commercials for top brands. His list of clients includes McDonald’s, Barq’s Rootbeer, ESPN, Northwest Airlines, Nyquil, Verizon, and Kellogg’s. He has crafted entertaining and memorable spots that have won numerous awards including Clios, Addy’s and Effies. His work resides in the permanent collection at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, and has been cited by industry publications such as “Communication Arts,” “Shoot”’s highly respected “Best Work You May Never See” column, and “Adweek”’s “Best Spots.” His work has been short-listed at the venerable Cannes Advertising Festival, and he was featured in “Shoot Magazine”’s “Directors to Watch” list. Schaak has also worked with numerous celebrities including Donald Trump, Aaron Rodgers, Apolo Ohno, Shaquille O’Neal, Deion Sanders, and Britney Spears, to name a few. Joe is dedicated to the development and production of entertaining content: commercials, television shows, webisodes, films, or mobile. “It’s a really exciting and amazing time in the industry,” he notes. “The landscape is constantly evolving and technology opens door after door of opportunities. Experiences can be targeted and delivered in very strategic ways. Once viewers tune in, I make every moment count.”
