St Luke’s, the London-based, independent advertising agency, has promoted its ECD Rich Denney to the newly created role of joint chief creative officer as part of a restructure to drive growth and to continue to improve the agency’s creative output. The move follows a period of significant new business wins over the last few years.

Denney – who joined St Luke’s as ECD in July 2017 – will continue to work closely with Al Young (joint chief creative officer and partner) and Jules Vizard (creative partner), across St. Luke’s portfolio of clients which includes Heathrow, Ocado, Southwestern Railway, Heineken and Diageo.

Denney’s promotion comes on the back of a successful few years for the agency, including topping the Campaign/AAR conversion table at the beginning of 2022 and a strong raft of pitch wins which includes Heathrow Airport, South Western Railway and Totally Money. The agency has also seen recent success creatively with its #gograbtheButterkist campaign, picking up Gold at Campaign Big and Creative Circle and through its Dole Malnutrition Labels work, both led by Denney.

Al Young, Joint CCO & Partner at St Luke’s, commented: “Since Rich joined the team, he's brought an infectious positivity to St Luke’s. This shines through in his campaigns for the likes of Butterkist, ipaper and Dole – receiving creative accolades in the UK and globally. He generated our much lauded #SHN campaign, and creatively led numerous pitch wins including the much-coveted Heathrow Airport, that is already producing much admired work.  He thoroughly deserves his promotion, and I’m proud to announce his new role as joint CCO.”

Rich Denney, joint CCO at St Luke's, said: “St Luke’s allows creativity to thrive and have always encouraged creating work that makes a difference. I’m looking forward to working closely with Al, Neil and the management team to develop and grow the creative output and agency further. We continue to work with great brands, and more recently we’ve been attracting new clients keen to collaborate on producing mould-breaking work - and you can’t get better than that.”

Neil Henderson, CEO and partner at St Luke’s, added: “As we continue to grow we are turning up the heat on our creative output. Rich has been the driving force behind stellar work in 2022 and some great wins so we are delighted to see him take on the mantle of Joint CCO. He is an inspiration in the agency, and we are looking forward to seeing him stamping his personality on the creative department in 2023 and beyond.”

St Luke’s was shortlisted for both UK Independent Agency of the Year and Global Creative Agency of the Year in 2022, has been named a Campaign Best Place to work for the last 5 years and awarded IPA CPD Platinum for the second year.
