VCCP’s latest campaign for Cadbury calls upon consumers to choose from 90,000 potential combinations of ingredients, to create their own flavour of Dairy Milk.  Three finalists will be given the opportunity to see their inventions sold in shops nationwide.

Soviet Science founder, Scuta Salamanca divulges: "We were asked to re-record a pastiche of the classic Modern Major-General's Song from Gilbert and Sullivan's 1879 comic opera The Pirates of Penzance. The musical arrangement was to be as per the orchestral original but the lyrics were re-written to inspire the general public." He adds, "The agency got us involved well before even a director was chosen for the job as it was to be such a music led project."

Going in to more detail about how the track was put together, he adds, "We first recorded the orchestral arrangement and then shortlisted some male lead voices whilst crafting the new lyrics in the summer sunshine of Portland Mews. The creatives had written some great words to replace the original lyrics and we then helped mould and shape them to really create a perfect pastiche.

"The main vocal song has a very fast 'patter' to the delivery of the lyrics, so we were looking for a male lead vocal to deliver this technically challenging piece with new words.  We also needed him to have a character voice to really sound like an old army Major-General yet still sound fresh!

"Ivan Brett was our man - and as part of an 18 piece choir from Crouch End Festival Chorus they delivered an amazing rendition of our new lyrics. Led by their Chorus Master, David Temple MBE, we recorded them at the legendary Livingston Studios in Wood Green."

Cadbury’s - Go Madbury

Let’s add a little basil, apple, coconut and Liquorice,

We’re mixing, rolling, poking, slopping, dipping, giving it a squish,

Take handfuls, pinches, dollups, gloops and glugs and throw them in the dish,

From cinnamon to tarragon and almost anything you wish.

Gummies, berries, lemongrass or even something spicy-ish,

A cho-co-late concoction that we all agree is quite delish,

Now each and every person nationwide is going Madbury,

Let’s ponder and invent a scrumptious dairy milk for Cadbury.

CHORUS

Let’s ponder and invent a scrumptious dairy milk for Cadbury

Let’s ponder and invent a scrumptious dairy milk for Cadbury

Let’s ponder and invent a scrumptious dairy milk that’s truly Cadbury
