Sonic Union mixes up Ira Glass and Mike Birbiglia

2012 Sundance Audience Award-winning comedy ‘Sleepwalk With Me’ opens in New York on August 24th through IFC Films and film co-director/co-writer Mike Birbiglia and co-writer Ira Glass (“This American Life”) go guerilla to reach opening weekend success in this new online promo, mixed by Sonic Union mixer David Papa.  The promo features the zany duo urging audiences to come out to their opening weekend through a series of humorous vignettes.  Glass and Birbiglia promise not only to personally attend screenings, but to also handle every aspect of each screening: from concession sales and bathroom cleaning to a post-screening Q&A that “doesn’t suck.”

The film opens at the IFC Center in NYC the weekend of August 24-25 and continues on to debut at Chicago’s Music Box Theatre on the weekend of August 31 – September 1.  The film follows Birbiglia as a burgeoning stand-up comedian struggling with the stress of a stalled career, a stale relationship, and the wild bouts of severe sleepwalking he is desperate to ignore.

 

With the help of this promo and subsequent social media campaign through the film’s official site, Facebook page and Twitter hashtag #bringsleepwalk, the duo hope to expand the film’s theatrical release to build a wider audience.
