Scott’s work has garnered international acclaim, winning awards including a Gold Clio and a Bronze Cannes Lion

Boutique production company Someplace Nice today welcomes director Scott Pickett to its roster for representation in Canada.

Born in Australia, Scott’s passion for directing has taken him across the globe, bringing authentic performances, striking visuals, and dry wit to stories big and small. A master of multiple genres, recent years have seen Scott craft a short supernatural thriller in the US, a fashion film in France, and a 360 degree VR action comedy in Australia.

Throughout his career, Scott has moved between TV series and commercials, shooting campaigns in 17 different countries and picking up various advertising awards - including the prestigious Gold Clio and a Bronze Cannes Lion - for international brands such as Apple, Google, IKEA, Coke, Nestle, McDonald’s, Ford, Toyota, and VW.

Scott has also continued his long form work, with funding support from Screen Australia for short films and feature development. He’s directed drama for Channel 7 Australia, and has worked on TV comedies ‘The Elegant Gentleman’s Guide to Knife Fighting’ (screened on Netflix, Hulu, and ABC Australia) and ‘The Moody’s’ (ABC Australia, Hulu, Sky TV). Scott’s 2017 short film, ‘The Doppel Chain’, was also screened at Sydney International Film Festival and picked up by streaming channel Alter.

Scott Pickett comments, “What’s not to love about Someplace Nice? Chilo and Estelle are super enthusiastic and cool, they have an excellent roster, and there weren’t any clashes style-wise. They had me pitching on a lovely job basically before we got off our first Zoom meeting. Canada has such a great tradition in comedy and storytelling, and I feel like there’s a real synergy between our two countries. I hope the good folks at the agencies get a kick out of my work and want to bring projects to life with me.”

Chilo Fletcher, partner and executive producer at Someplace Nice, adds, “Over the years, Someplace Nice’s reach has grown beyond Toronto, and in turn our roster has developed to include a lot more international talent. The quality and scale of Scott’s work - which spans several genres - will no doubt pique the interests of Canadian creatives. His talents are boundless, telling emotive, heartfelt stories as effortlessly as he creates comedic narratives.”
