Cecily Strong of Saturday Night Live is the new face of Prego Italian Sauces. With her fun, engaging and ‘over the top’ personality brings the new advertising mantra to life - 'Pour it on Thick', dreamed up by Leo Burnett.
When it comes to pulling off a great dinner, whether you’ve only got minutes to spare, or a table of picky eaters – not any old sauce will do. Only thick delicious Prego pleases every time, which means every time you ladle on Prego, you’re 'Pouring it on Thick'.
“Most people believe all jarred spaghetti sauce is the same. It’s not. Prego is incredibly thick. Kinda like if you stewed fresh tomatoes and made sauce at home.” said Natalie Taylor, SVP creative director/copy at Leo Burnett. “When the idea of someone celebrating Prego’s thickness by 'Pouring it On Thick' came about, we knew Cecily Strong would be the perfect person to bring it to life. She is so over-the-top in the best, most fun way.”
“Oz, Cecily and the killer production team/crew, made shooting during times of Covid not only easy, but fun. Cecily’s energy on set had everyone – many attending via Zoom – smiling and laughing all day", Taylor continued. "The only real down side to the remote shoot was that our own pantries served as craft service and, speaking for mine anyway, it was incredibly underwhelming.”
The spots were filmed in Covid-19 times, completely virtual. Ads rolled out on Monday 24th August.
