SMA Talent composer Arhynn Descy is one of the 819 members of the film community to have received an invitation to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
Descy is a French/South African composer and pianist who divides her time between London and LA. She has written music for feature films, shorts, documentaries, the stage as well as for orchestra and a variety of solo instruments, with credits including the soon-to-be-released 'Patriot: A Nation at War' and the award-winning 'Nine Nights'. She is currently working on a solo album entitled 'Postcards From A Pandemic' and the feature film 'Quarantine Island'.
“I am deeply honoured to have been invited to become a member of the Academy,”says Descy. “To be considered alongside the amazingly talented creatives on this list means everything. Thank you to the Academy and the music branch for this honour.”
Not only has Descy served on the film music jury for the IvorNovello awards and the Polish Film Festival in LA, she has also been awarded an LAFCI fellowship with the Oscar-nominated David Newman in LA and has a chapter dedicated to her in the book 'It’sSimply Filmmaking: A Guide to Creating a Successful Career as a FemaleFilmmaker' by Cali Gilbert.
