Sky x Amazon Spot Is a Poignant Story about Turning the Mundane into a Joyous Living Room Experience

Sky x Amazon's ‘Broken Leg’ is a poignant human story about turning the mundane into a joyous living room experience with the one you love.

FAMILIA’s David Mellor brings this affecting creative to life with a myriad of visual effects transitioning the characters from the comfort of their living room to the story worlds of Sky and Amazon’s vast array of television entertainment.

The spot showcases the voice activated Sky Glass technology. Prompted by the “What should we watch?” Ben takes us on a journey through the different content Sky/Amazon has presented to him, where he collects content ‘tiles’ to cheer up his immobile partner Joseph. Classic transitions such as match and action cuts link the character into the respective worlds of Jack Reacher, Wheel of Time and Discovery of Witches.

There’s humour in Ben’s leisurely exploration of these worlds, always remaining in his living room attire while traversing through different periods and locations. The technical team FAMILIA assembled married science and art to nail every aspect of the worlds they created, with carefully designed art design and lighting to reflect the story worlds.

FAMILIA produced the TVC for the UK, German and Italian markets.

SKY x Amazon was shot in Bulgaria with service company Solent. This project was a reunion for director David Mellor and producer Toby Walsham, who had last worked together five years prior on a unique global VR project for Marriott, in which he shot at the top of the Andes in Chile, a Rwandan ice-cream store and the streets of Beijing.
