Johnny Foreigner’s Jacques Salmon directs ad break takeover for Virgin Media
The full 3.30" ad break takeover was a first for the director who has become particularly renowned in the sports genre.
Jacques was keen to make the most of having the expanded spot and impact to tell the story.
“Having longer than the traditional 30 or 40 seconds to tell the story, I really wanted to humanise our team of skateboarders, so that the audience became emotionally invested and wanted them to succeed in their attempt to go faster than any group of connected skateboarders have done in history.”
“We were shooting the world record attempt as part of a live event, rather than a production that we had full control over. This meant meticulous planning, collaborating with the audience and amazing teamwork. Not to mention a super tight turnaround.”
This type of opportunity doesn’t come along every day and the director is clearly very appreciative of the opportunity and the herculean effort of all involved.
“Thanks to Untold and adam&eveDDB for getting me on board for this one and trusting me to bring this creative from script to screen. A huge thanks to everyone involved, but most importantly to the fast and fearless skateboarders, without whom we wouldn’t have a film.” said Jacques.
