SIXT Fills Famous Dusseldorf Street with a Surprising Sound

Funny stunt by Grey Germany brought the sounds of a supercar to the Königsallee boulevard, but the source is cheaper than you’d expect

SIXT Fills Famous Dusseldorf Street with a Surprising Sound
Summer, sun, birdsong – and suddenly roaring engine sounds. Even before curious passers-by ask themselves, "What kind of vehicle is this mean machine?", heads are spinning curiously.

But then the situation develops in a surprising way: a slow scooter emerges from around the corner with two people on it. The source of the supercar soundtrack? The passenger is imitating the engine sounds of a luxury sports cars with a trombone.

The sounds are like those of the powerful sports cars who enjoy the summer weather on the Dusseldorf high street Königsallee ("Kö"), going for a show-off drive. The central message slowly moves into the picture on the trailer of the scooter: "No bucks for a sports car? Rent one at SIXT."

With this quirky stunt, filmed on the Kö, SIXT promotes its low-cost premium sports cars available to rent. "Drive first-class, pay economy – that applies to SIXT naturally also for a summerly cruising with favorable sports cars of the extra class,“ says Francisca Maass, CCO of GREY Germany. "SIXT wants to trumpet this refreshing offer into the world with this funny prank and a wink."

The 30-second spot will be available from August 16th 2019 on all SIXT social media channels (nationally and internationally). It was produced by Chamaeleon together with nuborn pictures.
