Directing duo Itdrewitself has produced a new doc for Shure Microphones
Here's what the directing duo had to say about the project.
"Recent projects have given us an opportunity to experiment a bit with our filmmaking and we've really pushed ourselves in the individual roles of DoP and director. But we've found experimenting is really hard on bigger commercial work, where we have to almost show the outcome right at the start. So when we were brought in by Mixcloud to direct their 'Making It' series for Shure Microphones earlier this year we really wanted to do something a bit different.
We often preach the value of making content with broad appeal but this time we decided with these films to let the talent inform how we told each of their stories. We even let their way of working dictate the cinematography we used. We travelled to Japan, LA, Berlin and London for the shoots with talent including Caleb Femi, Sapphire Slows, the guys from Maekan, and Max Graef. We wanted to make films that stood apart from the usual artist-portrait or documentary portraits. As a series we’re really proud of how the films came out, each with their own strengths. With every new project we learn something new about our creative process and it becomes clearer how important it is to push ourselves all the time. To keep moving on creatively."
