The Shorty Industry Awards honour the Industry's Best Agencies and Social Media Leaders.
The Shorty Awards honour the best producers of short content on social media. Social media gives companies a human touch, bringing customers closer to their favourite brands while allowing marketers to engage directly with their followers in fun and creative ways. The Shorty Awards general categories honour the top content creators, and now the Shorty Industry Awards honour the talented agencies, brands, and industry leaders behind the best professional social media channels, viral campaigns, websites, games, and applications.
Past Shorty winners and nominees include Comcast, Sesame Workshop, Whole Foods, NASA, Suze Orman Show, HBO, Discovery Channel and many more social media pioneers.
The non-Industry Shorty Awards honour the best of social media, recognizing the people and organizations producing real-time short form content on across Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, YouTube, Foursquare, and the rest of the social Web. Every year, millions of people visit the Shorty Awards site to tweet nominations for their favourite social media content creators. All those tweets culminate in a highly anticipated awards ceremony that celebrates the winners in dozens of featured categories, as well as thousands of crowd-sourced community ones. For the second time, the Shorty Awards will also honour the industry's best agencies, brands, and social media professionals. The public is invited to nominate social media users for excellence over the past year. Each award recognizes a content creator's entire body of work, not just an individual tweet or post. Nominations are made by tweeting or through ShortyAwards.com.
In each of the featured categories that are finalized when the voting closes, the six people or organizations that receive the most tweeted votes will be 2012 Shorty Awards finalists. The finalist with the most votes receives a Shorty Vox Populi (popular vote) distinction. Several winners in the most interesting featured categories will be presented to be presented to theReal-Time Academy of Short Form Arts & Sciences, which will review the finalists' work and decide the Shorty Award winners in those categories. These winners may be different from the Shorty Vox Populi. These Shorty Award winners will be honored at the the gala awards ceremony in New York City, complete with 140-character acceptance speeches. It is possible for a finalist to win both the Shorty Award and Shorty Vox Populi in a category.
Nominations for the 4th Annual Shorty Industry Awards are now open. The submission period ends on January 27, 2012.
The 4th Annual Shorty Awards ceremony will take place in late March in New York City
