PrideAM champions a new era of inclusivity and seeks valuable insights from 2SLGBTQI+ professionals and students in advertising and marketing

Since its inception by Scott Knox in 2015 in the UK, Pride in Advertising and Marketing (PrideAM) has spearheaded transformative initiatives within the advertising and marketing sectors. Today, PrideAM proudly announces the establishment of its inaugural board of directors, marking a significant milestone in its commitment to enhancing diversity and representation from Vancouver to Halifax.

Led by Sam Archibald, creative director and co-owner of Shortstop Creative Inc., and Kaia Kim, post producer at Craft Worldwide, the board boasts a dynamic group of industry leaders united by their dedication to fostering an inclusive environment. Board members include Quinn Anderson, public relations coordinator at the Halifax Chamber of Commerce; Jefferson Darrell, founder and CEO of Breakfast Culture; Jane Hope, director of marketing and communications at Modo; Scott Knox, founder of PrideAM and president and CEO of the Institute of Canadian Agencies; and Dan Towers, group digital director at Dentsu.

Sam Archibald emphasised the diversity and resilience of the board, “Just as our 2SLGBTQI+ community is incredibly diverse, so is our board. We are committed to enhancing the visibility and support for queer professionals in our industry, particularly during these challenging times. We are committed to reaching more of our colleagues, as it can be lonely in this industry, but doubly so when you’re queer.”

Kaia Kim added, “I am interested in creating a safe space for people in our community to express themselves and their experiences, among others like them. Safe spaces as a term haven’t always lived up to their intention, and my goal is for PrideAM to be that for every 2SLGBTQI+ person in our industry.”

Building on this desire, PrideAM is seeking participation in its 2024 Community Survey launching today. All members of the 2SLGBTQI+ community are invited to share their perspectives as professionals or students in the marketing and advertising industry.

PrideAM aims to use the responses from this survey to create future programs and build on future initiatives like the PrideAM Awards. Sam added, “We exist for individuals at all career levels, from executives grappling with their identity to students wanting to see industry change. Help us make this a more welcoming space.”

As part of a commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment in the advertising and marketing industries, PrideAM invites you to participate in the 2024 Community Survey. Your insights are crucial as we continue to shape initiatives and programs that truly reflect the needs and aspirations of the 2SLGBTQI+ community within our field. Visit here to share your experiences and help us drive meaningful change.
