Set Ready proudly announces the successful completion of a comprehensive two-day course in partnership with Film Barking and Dagenham (Make It Here) and the JGA Group. The course, held on July 3rd and 4th 2023, took place at the LondonEast-UK Business and Technical Park in Dagenham.

(Set Ready is a non-profit training and employment programme created by FilmFixer the UK’s largest film service provider.)

This groundbreaking training initiative brought together industry experts and aspiring talents, fostering a unique learning environment for participants to acquire essential skills and insights into the world of film and tv production. The collaboration between Set Ready, Film Barking & Dagenham, and the JGA Group showcased a commitment to enriching the local film community by providing top-notch education and networking opportunities.

The course featured a distinguished lineup of trainers, including Jim Horsfield and Rachel Aldridge from Screen Suffolk, industry veterans with a wealth of experience in film production. Participants were privileged to receive guidance directly from Anna Wilson, Sector Development Lead: Film and Creative Industries and Inclusive Growth, from Film Barking and Dagenham who shared her valuable insights into the local film landscape.

Adding further depth to the training was the presence of Joshua Jay (JJ), a former Set Ready trainee who has successfully transitioned into the industry. JJ's journey from Set Ready trainee to professional success served as an inspiring example for participants, and he graciously conducted an engaging Q&A session, offering valuable advice and firsthand experiences.

"We are thrilled with the overwhelming response to our collaboration with Film Barking and Dagenham (Make It Here) and the JGA Group,” said Belinda Peach, Set Ready manager. "This course marked an exceptional opportunity for emerging talents to learn from seasoned professionals and gain an understanding of the inner workings of the film industry with the unique outcome of being offered professional location marshal placements on local productions. We are committed to continuing our efforts to empower the next generation of filmmakers."

The event received positive feedback from attendees who praised the comprehensive curriculum, the calibre of trainers, and the networking opportunities provided by the course.
