Brands are experimenting with ways to disrupt the consumer shopping experience that is almost as old as the internet itself - the online holiday gift guide. It’s not enough to offer consumers a static list of curated items categorised by age and gender. Interactive gift guides are experimenting with video and other techniques to bring the guides to life. More than that, they’re suggesting gifts based on the habits, personal tastes, location, lifestyle and travel preferences of the giftee, creating deeper connection to the recipient and the brand - one brand doing that well this season is travel clothing company SCOTTeVEST. 

Recently Brooklyn-based independent agency Quirk Creative created The SCOTTeVEST holiday gift guide, an interactive video-based experience that guides consumers through a series of objects in a log cabin to suggest the perfect article of travel clothing for the recipient. The gifter begins near a cozy fire where they can select either the man or woman sitting with their dog. The guide then asks customers specific questions like - What do you need to fit inside a pocket? and 'Where is your giftee living?'  - running the interactive responses through a formula to propose the perfect gift. 

“SCOTTeVEST is all about clothing engineered for adventure and an easier lifestyle - so we thought, why not engineer a tool that makes gift giving easier this year,” says Meryl Draper, co-founder and CEO of Quirk Creative.
