At the launch party of the Creativepool Annual 2018 at London’s elegant Banking Hall last night, the prestigious ‘Influencer of the Year’ title was handed to Sarah Golding for her industry-leading work over the past 12 months.
Golding, President of the Institute of Practitioners in Advertising and CEO and Partner of The&Partnership London, was nominated and voted for by a team of judges handpicked from across the industry. The ‘Influencer of the Year’ title honours trailblazing individuals driving change across the creative landscape, industry leaders who are dedicated to innovation in their fields.
Last year Golding launched her IPA President’s agenda, ‘The Magic and the Machines’. This was a call to the industry to better understand and embrace machine learning and emerging technologies. As part of that she launched a platform for inspiration and education called IPAi, brought key learnings from SXSW and the CES Conference to IPA members, and called out the need to monitor the machines which has included an open letter to Google YouTube and Facebook to bring the safety, measurement and viewability of their online video up to acceptable industry standards.
Helping agencies to embrace the added depth and understanding that can come with data, she has also launched a new President’s Prize celebrating the most innovative use of data at the esteemed IPA Effectiveness Awards. Golding has actively fought for the clean-up of the digital media landscape, including her recent call to the UK Electoral Commission and wider political community to halt the microtargeting of political ads online, and for greater transparency in political advertising.
At The&Partnership London, she has not only rebranded the business from CHI & Partners but has led the agency to strive for big, bold, and bionic creative work, reflecting the profound changes in the industry that are bringing data and technology together in the service of big ideas and creativity.
She is also a founding member of the Unstereotype Alliance, established in partnership with UN Women, and chaired the IPA and Campaign’s Women of Tomorrow Awards 2018.
On winning ‘Influencer of the Year’, Golding said: “It is no secret that I love this industry, and to be called out as one of its influencers is a wonderful honour.”
