Award-winning creative Kathy Delaney takes role

Saatchi & Saatchi Wellness Names New CCO

Saatchi & Saatchi Wellness, the industry leader in the emerging area of marketing consumer wellness, announced today that it has appointed award-winning creative Kathy Delaney as Chief Creative Officer. In her new role, Delaney will continue the agency’s history of leading the industry in groundbreaking creative campaigns and the creation of new platforms that help consumers in their quest to proactively feel better and live healthier lifestyles.

In addition to her role at Saatchi & Saatchi Wellness, Delaney will assume the role of Global Chief Creative Officer of the Saatchi & Saatchi Health network to inspire a stronger culture of creativity for Saatchi & Saatchi Health on a global basis.

“Kathy is a game-changer and she embodies the future of our industry,” said Ned Russell, Group Managing Director, Saatchi & Saatchi Wellness and Saatchi & Saatchi Health. “With this exciting hire, Saatchi & Saatchi Wellness positions itself to maintain its foothold as the most awarded creative agency specializing in consumer wellness. We are thrilled to have a talent of Kathy’s caliber on board, as this reinforces our mission to provide the highest level of creative product to our clients.”

Over the course of her career, Delaney’s passion for creating and overseeing integrated campaigns has received industry-wide acclaim for clients including IKEA, Reebok, Kraft, Tanqueray, Mass Mutual, Snapple, Johnson and Johnson’s Tylenol, Starwood Hotels and Resorts, Tommy Hilfiger, Monster.com, MCI, Foot Locker, Pfizer’s Zoloft and Zyrtec, Revlon and Almay.

Most recently, Delaney headed her own consultancy and launched the SK Energy Shots brand in partnership with brand incubator Pure Growth Partners. Her success on the brand’s integrated national marketing and advertising campaign resulted in SK Energy’s nationwide distribution at GNC, CVS, Rite-Aid and Duane Reade.

Delaney spent 12 years at Deutsch, where she helped it grow from a small boutique of $180 million into a $2.5 billion marketing communications company. She joined Deutsch in 1993 as an Associate Creative Director, and was promoted to Executive Creative Director and Partner of the New York office in 1997, Executive Creative Director Managing Partner in 2001, and Chief Creative Officer, President in 2004.

From 2007 to 2011, Delaney served as Chief Creative Officer and President of Nitro, where she helped build the business globally, culminating in its sale to digital consultancy, Sapient, and successfully formed SapientNitro, a global digital and brand specialist network.

“The soul of Saatchi & Saatchi Wellness has always been about delivering groundbreaking creative work. The size and scale of the creative opportunity, as well as the transformation potential, was irresistible. I’ve known Ned for years and the moment was right,” said Delaney.

Russell added: “We know our clients rely upon, and have come to expect, unique expertise from our agency. I’m confident that Kathy is the right person to fill this critical role, which was previously held by our good friend and inspiration, Helayne Spivak.” Spivak left Saatchi & Saatchi Wellness in August 2012 to become the Director of the VCU Brandcenter, one of the most world’s most prestigious academic advertising programs.

In January 2013, The Business Insider recognized Delaney as one of the “33 Most Creative Women in Advertising.” She has won numerous awards for her work, including ADDY’s, ANDY’s, Effie’s, One Show Gold, Communication Arts, Art Directors Club, and is in the Museum of Modern Art’s permanent advertising collection. Delaney has also been honored with The American Advertising Federation Under 40 Hall of Achievement Award. She served as a judge at the 2010 Cannes Lion International Festival.
