Rufina Lawani, head of regional, Finecast, has become the new chair of NABS’ Manchester committee.

Rufina, previously the committee’s vice-chair, will work alongside Kate Harris, regional director, NABS, leading a team of 10 committee volunteers to drive support for NABS across the north-west.

She takes over from Guy Jackson, who is standing down as chairman.

Rufina has been on the committee for ten years and her achievements include growing the NABS Manchester Fashion Show over the last five years, with 2022’s event being the biggest yet, raising a total of £20k for the charity.

Rufina has also helped NABS and Sky to form a productive relationship, with Sky sponsoring NABS Manchester’s popular music quiz last year.

Rufina said, “As many of us work in smaller teams in the regions, the work NABS does is so important up here as it builds a support community for those of us that can't always rely on having support within the businesses that we work for. As NABS’ Manchester Chair I am really looking forward to working more closely with NABS across 2023, particularly in terms of finding new opportunities to grow funding, which ultimately ensures all the fantastic work they do can continue.”

Dave Newton, trading director, Future Plc, is the committee’s new vice-chairman. He says: “I’ve always supported NABS throughout my career and joined the NW committee in 2014 as a way to give back. As vice-chair, I look forward offering the brilliant Rufina all of my support to continue raising vital money for our industry charity.”

Kate Harris, regional director, NABS, says, “NABS is lucky to have counted Rufina and Dave as active supporters for several years now. That they’re now stepping up their involvement in the committee speaks volumes about their passion for mental wellness in our industry. I look forward to working with them. Our thanks to Guy Jackson for his contribution and ongoing support.”
