Honesty is always the best policy. It can keep you out of trouble, it can get your work noticed. If you are lucky. it can also get you on a transatlantic skype call talking about Mike Lee and Ken Loach and fashion photography and dogs and politics with Rudi Schwab. Rudi is the charmingly talented Director and cinematographer who is the latest to add his name to the eye-catching roster at Bang TV.
There’s an honesty to Rudi’s work that enables him to tell very real stories that carry genuine emotional weight, without ever leaving the viewer feeling like they have been played or manipulated. You are never left feeling “Here’s the bit where I’m supposed to cry”.
Rudi’s “Handle with Care” film for Gillette swept the trophy shelves at the Cannes Festival this summer, with three golds and 2 silvers among the haul. It is another piece of deeply touching film making, rich in love and positivity and beautifully connecting brand to the scenario in a way that just makes common sense.
In another recent spot, for Hewlett Packard Rudi created a view into a totally credible world, with a narrative handled with a beautifully light touch. The performances are subtle and engaging, so that we want there to be an uplifting ending and are delighted when we find it. Even the product sequences are effortlessly woven into the fabric of the piece, ever present but unobtrusive and serving the characters and the scenario perfectly.
Jeremy McWilliams Founder of Bang TV recounts how "We got together in the purest way imaginable. I saw his work and just got in touch with him to say how much I loved it.
We clicked immediately and in no time he had joined. I couldn’t be happier with the signing. He’s going to be huge."
