The partnership centres on the Academy’s annual event, National Engineering Day

Earnies has been appointed to lead a consumer communications campaign for the Royal Academy of Engineering, following a four-way pitch. The partnership centres on the Academy’s annual event, National Engineering Day, a national awareness day that aims to drive public recognition of UK engineers by celebrating how they have improved everyday lives and shaped the world around us for the better.

The creative earned communications agency will develop and execute the pitch winning campaign idea. The creative and strategic ambition builds on the Academy’s This is Engineering campaign, designed to inspire younger generations to consider engineering alongside the most popular career choices of this age group: doctor, vet or influencer.

Since 2019, National Engineering Day has become a pivotal moment in the Academy’s calendar highlighting the work of the engineering profession. The Academy was founded in June 1976 as the Fellowship of Engineering with support from HRH Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, who became the Senior Fellow.

Bringing together inspirational inventors and its supporting Fellows, the Academy will present the changing face of engineers with a particular focus on bridging the representation gap and promoting a more diverse and inclusive view of engineering careers.

Peter Jenkins, interim director of communications and engagement at the Royal Academy of Engineering, said, “The Academy was looking for fresh and innovative thinking to make an impact this year, and we look forward to working with Earnies to get everyone talking about the unsung heroes of engineering this year on 13 November.”

Founder of Earnies, Nikki Collins, added, “We are so looking forward to building a lasting partnership with the Royal Academy of Engineering. As a mum, and being the daughter of an engineer, it struck a particular chord – an incredible opportunity and honour to create fame for a meaningful purpose and consequently, drive recruitment amongst the minds of the future.”
