Darpan and William strengthen the compositing department

Today, Rodeo FX, the international creative company and high-end VFX provider, announced the appointment of Darpan Kataria and William Tayssier as compositing supervisors. The two are joining a fast-expanding department that recently won a Visual Effects Society (VES) Award for Best Compositing and Lighting on Love, Death and Robots Season 3.

Darpan’s career began in 2008 as a VFX artist at Kaleidoscope Entertainment Ltd after earning a degree in Multimedia at APEEJAY Institute of Design in New Delhi. One year later, he started his first compositing role at Prime Focus where he worked on VFX projects. From there, after a few stops in India, he made his way to Montreal in 2016, joining the MPC team as a compositing artist. Eventually, his desire to work on bigger projects with heavier-scale VFX brought him to Rodeo FX in 2023. His credits include Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, and Loki, Warner Bros.’ Mortal Kombat, and season two of Showtime’s Yellowjackets.

“I’ve always been very interested in collaborating with clients as early as possible in the process,’ says Darpan. “I had a desire to push the boundaries of my craft, aiming not only to increase output but also to enhance its quality. Rodeo has provided me with the opportunity to achieve this aspiration.”

Originally from France, William moved to Montréal in 2008, and enrolled at the Centre NAD in 2010 after working some part-time work in stop-motion and composition. Upon graduation in 2012, he spent the next seven years specialising in Nuke Composition at several companies including Mikros before being named Lead Compositor at Mr X in 2019. Persuaded by the quality of talent and output at Rodeo FX, he joined the company in 2023 with a desire to grow as an artist. Other credits include 20th Century Studios’ Prey, Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, as well as Disney’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

“I relate a lot to Rodeo’s positioning as ‘partner’ and not just ‘vendor’. I enjoy their approach to being involved in the creative process, and being a force of artistic and innovative propositions," explains William.
