The Anthem Awards are defining a new benchmark for impactful work that inspires others to take action in their communities

“Ridiculous Excuses Not to Be Inclusive” announced as a Gold Winner in Awareness & Media Categories for both Global Awareness Campaign and Campaign - Non-Profit for Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion in The 3rd Annual Anthem Awards.

Tinygiant announced today that the PSA “Ridiculous Excuses Not to Be Inclusive” for CoorDown is a Gold Winner in Awareness & Media Categories for both Global Awareness Campaign and Campaign - Non-Profit for Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion in The 3rd Annual Anthem Awards. This production, directed by Stoney Sharp, was a collaboration with CoorDown, and co-produced with SMALL and Indiana.

Coordown and SMALL partnered with organisations from all over the world to survey people with Down syndrome, and their families, on what excuses they had been given to exclude them from society. For World Down Syndrome Day, the most absurd ones were selected and brought to life to ridicule this behavior. As a result, Ridiculous Excuses Not To Be Inclusive was born.

This year’s Anthem Award Winners were selected from a pool of over 2,000 submissions from 44 countries by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences (IADAS). Anthem judges are intellectually diverse leaders from across the impact industry with expertise that spans across the Anthem cause areas. “The Anthem Awards were born out of the desire to amplify and celebrate the voices that are creating sustainable change and to inspire others to take action,” said Patricia McLoughlin, Anthem Awards general manager. “In a year where so much is at stake, it is incredibly important to recognise impact work and celebrate the progress happening globally. Congratulations to all of this year’s winners.”

Tinygiant partner/executive producer Sara Eolin said, “When you exist in spaces where the majority tends to shy away from what’s different, it's crucial to recognise and make fun of the ridiculous excuses used to exclude individuals with Down Syndrome. Embracing inclusivity means dismantling the barriers built on misguided judgments and unfounded fears. We’re proud to have partnered with Small, Coordown and Indiana Production to have told this story with Stoney Sharp at the helm.”

By amplifying the voices that spark global change, the Anthem Awards are defining a new benchmark for impactful work that inspires others to take action in their communities. A portion of programme revenue is allocated to the Anthem Award’s grant program, The Anthem Fund. This year the Anthem Fund partnered with Billion Oyster Project to support their work to restore and conserve New York’s waterways.
