Repak, the leading environmental not-for-profit headed by CEO Séamus Clancy, has appointed The Brill Building as lead creative agency after a two-way pitch. The award-winning agile creative shop prevailed over competitors after an 8 week process.
The Brill Building joins the Repak inter-agency team to help the organisation achieve ambitious plastic recycling targets by 2025. Repak recently announced that Ireland has surpassed every recycling target set by the European Union for the twenty third year in a row. However there are ambitious plastic recycling targets of 50% by 2025 and 55% by 2050 and Repak say they need everyone’s help to achieve these.
In December 2021, the Irish government announced the first Whole of Government Circular Economy Strategy 2022-23. The Strategy was a specific commitment in the Waste Action Plan for a Circular Economy (WAPCE). The purpose of this high-level, all-of-government strategy is to set a course for Ireland to transition across all sectors and at all levels of government toward circularity.
CEO Séamus Clancy commented ‘As Repak advocates for a Circular Economy - and with the challenges that lie ahead for Ireland to achieve an increase in plastic recycling - we look forward to working with The Brill Building to help instill motivation among the people of Ireland to recycle more of their plastics and recycle them correctly. Our Members are part of the climate solution in recycling their packaging to help us live in a circular economy. With climate change top of the agenda, organisations big and small want to show their green credentials where they can. Repak wants to help them demonstrate this. Ambition must be matched by action with a challenge we must not underestimate among all stakeholders’
Commenting on the appointment Head of Marketing and Communications Laura Sherry said: ‘We are very proud of everything our 3,400 Repak Members continue to achieve on behalf of Ireland’s recycling targets. We have the opportunity to demonstrate our Members environmental stewardship and help tackle climate and environmental challenges, recognised as this generations defining task. Our plans for 2025 and beyond are ambitious, and we are delighted to have The Brill Building team join us on our mission to get Ireland to recycle more than ever. We were immediately impressed by the approach the agency brought to our goals and objectives and the commitment to the brief they displayed from beginning to end”
Leading the winning The Brill Building team on the account are CEO and ECD Roisin Keown, Creative Directors Peter Snodden and Dan Henson with Social and Digital strategist Éadaoin Fitzmaurice. The Brill Building is pioneering a new creative-led model for agencies which they say works better for client, campaigns and talent. Founded by IMAGE Creative Businesswoman of the Year nominee Roisin Keown, The Brill Building has made one of the strongest debuts of any new venture in years, with an impressive performance at the EFFIE awards, Kinsale Sharks, AIM, PRII, ICAD, APMC and at international level, winning the Grand Prix at the Europe-wide IMC awards for activation in recent weeks.
Roisin Keown, CEO and ECD, The Brill Building, said: “We are beyond thrilled to be working with Laura and all the Repak team at a very exciting time for those committed to improving the way we live and work. Irish businesses are doing so much behind the scenes to make a circular economy possible and we’re excited to help inspire more to see how Repak membership can give their business a competitive advantage – one that ultimately benefits us all”
