Ogilvy & Mather Group Hong Kong has hired its first ever group creative lead. In a coup for the agency, and a landmark move for the wider industry in Hong Kong, Reed Collins, a recipient of multiple global creative awards and longstanding contributor to the permanent collection in New York’s Museum of Modern Art, has been announced as Chief Creative Officer for Ogilvy & Mather Group Hong Kong. Reed’s creative background and extensive qualifications are the perfect complement to a creative team as diverse as Ogilvy and Mather.
Welcoming Collins’ appointment, Ogilvy & Mather Group Hong Kong CEO, Adam O’Conor, said:
“Our industry can be hyperbolic about new hires, but in Reed’s case the excitement is palpable and fully justified. He is a world class creative force, and his recruitment is not only great news for our clients, but testament to Ogilvy & Mather’s role as industry leader and a shot in the arm for creativity in Hong Kong.”
Collins has a rich international background that has seen him work in senior creative positions across four continents in some of the greatest agencies in the world. Mojo Sydney, TBWA Johannesberg, Lowe Howard-Spink London, Cliff Freeman & Partners NYC, Leo Burnett Chicago and most recently The Campaign Palace Australia.
Explaining Collins’ role, Adam O’Conor said:
“Reed will work across the Ogilvy & Mather Group with a simple agenda - to create world class work for our clients. He will wear many hats: mentor, partner, talent magnet, inspiration, collaborator, client confidante and pace setter. He will ensure that cutting edge creativity has a seat at the top table and I am delighted to be working alongside him.”
Reed Collins commented:
“To work with Ogilvy & Mather in the world’s most dynamic region was a no brainer. The commercial opportunities for clients in Hong Kong are immense – and our job is to deliver them brilliant creative thinking.”
“I hope I can play a part in fostering and developing the creative talent that is key to Hong Kong’s future but at the same time I look forward to learning a great deal from the talented team already here.”
