Los Angeles-based Recommended Media launches director Leigh Ogilvie to deliver a modern day interpretation of proper lady-like etiquette in the new :30 “Lady Rules” for Skinnygirl out of Walton Isaacson, Chicago. The premiere broadcast spot for the low calorie cocktail line comes on the heels of the recent launch of Skinnygirl’s latest waist-conscious concoction: Skinnygirl Wine, available in red, white and rosé varietals.
Ogilvie, who is also represented by Velocity Films in South Africa, makes her US spot debut with the premiere advertising campaign for Skinnygirl Cocktails. Over the course of her career, Ogilvie has won several awards including being featured at D&AD and winning the Loeries Grand Prix for Channel O. Her award-winning music video background has laid setting for her unique contemporary and sophisticated aesthetic.
The spot opens on a proper redheaded lady from the ‘50s in her retro pink living room. Face broadening with a grin, she delivers her first rule, “A lady always wears sensible shoes.” We cut to feet with red and pink toenails in light blue sandals resting next to a bottle of Skinnygirl Margarita. The feet belong to a woman amongst many who are laughing and drinking merrily as they all enjoy a salon pamper session. We intercut between the lady announcing each of her “Lady Rules” and groups of modern-day women at a bar drinking cocktails, by a pool sipping cosmos and in book club meeting enjoying glasses of wine. The spot closes each of the Skinnygirl beverages followed by the tag, “Skinnygirl cocktails. Drink like a lady.”
