Great Guns director Natasha Mynhier tells the sweet story of when kids give their parents the perfect holiday escape for fishing tackle company Berkley
Despite the challenges of Covid-19 productions, Great Guns director, Natasha Mynhier, brought a small team of four multi-skilled artists together with one real family, to bring an energetic and heartwarming holiday spot to Berkley Fishing fans this Christmas season. Utilising their Remote Camera Cart, Natasha and her team built a system that allowed the client to participate with a multi-cam live zoom feed. The small onsite team escaped to Big Bear Lake where they produced, set designed, shot, and mixed - all within Covid-19 safety protocols. The result is a spot that challenges the conception of what a fishing family looks like, with a heartwarming ending that reminds all parents that the chaos of the holidays can be remedied with some good-ole fishing.

The ad opens on a father, blissfully asleep in bed, until his child pokes him and screams “Wake up it’s Christmas!” From there we are thrown into the chaos of Christmas day. Natasha uses an original score and fast paced editing to build a nostalgic and energetic scene of warm cookies, running children, family photoshoots and oh boy...present time! The charming chaos builds until the children dart away and return with a gift for their parents. The tired parents open the childishly-wrapped present to find a pile of Berkley Fishing gear! The music fades into a natural soundscape as we cut outside to find the parents leaning on one another, enjoying a peaceful morning of dock fishing. Natasha’s sweet final line appears, "Give the Gift of Peace" this holiday season. An optimistic twist on the chaos of the holidays.

Natasha commented: “Many fishing brands focus on their pro-athletes, which can make fishing feel like a sport for the few. But Berkley brings together two worlds by highlighting their pros, as well as their diverse hobbyist fishing community - young, old, men, women, from all over the United States. It’s American explorers and families, coming together in nature. My goal was to highlight their commitment to diversifying what it means to be an American fishing family and hopefully get a few more couples bonding over a fun outdoor sport this Christmas.”
