Creative Studio Rascal today welcomes Chris Tobin as head of 2D. Joining Rascal after a 10 year stint at Absolute Post as VFX supervisor and head of 2D, Chris will work directly with clients on projects, in addition to supporting the wider compositing team and helping to develop their talents further.
Chris began his career in 2011, learning the ins and outs of Flame and Nuke at Absolute Post, before progressing to become head of 2D and VFX supervisor. Collaborating with celebrated directors including Gary Freedman, Andreas Nilsson, Martin Krejčí and recently Joseph Mann on a fun campaign for Lunchables, Chris helped to bring their most ambitious ideas to life on screen.
A personal favourite project saw Chris work on the opening sequence for the Netflix series ‘Maniac’. Using surreal, abstract patterns and textures and vibrant colours, he crafted a visually striking sequence that reflects the show’s themes of mental health, identity, and exploration of consciousness.
Drawn to Rascal for its collaborative approach and artist driven ethos, as well as its ambition to become an industry leading creative studio, Chris joins a team of era-defining experienced artists and forward-thinking newcomers who are propelling Rascal to greater heights within the industry.
Gareth Brannan, managing director, Rascal, said, “Chris is great, we already love him, come and see why for yourself.”
Chris Tobin, head of 2D, Rascal, added, “I’m thrilled to be part of Rascal. They already have such an impressive reputation in the industry, I can’t wait to help grow that and have a great time doing it!”
