Spark44 teams with Bare Films' Chris Goulder to capture stunned onlookers in online spot

The Range Rover Evoque has conquered the world’s largest speed bump found on the streets of London. The excessive traffic calming feature was found in Southwark, London and throughout the day puzzled drivers and pedestrians alike as to how to navigate the unusual addition to the road. Drivers approached the speed bump with caution and intrigue but none found a way over due to the excessive size. Some drivers even found themselves marooned on the approach, much to the amusement of onlookers.

The Range Rover Evoque proved to be the ultimate nemesis to the speed bump which measured 10m wide, 1.5m high and 6m deep. The Evoque made full use of its class-leading approach (23.2o), breakover (22o) departure angles (33o) and semi-autonomous ‘All Terrain Progress Control’ (ATPC) to effortlessly climb and descend the obstacle.

The light-hearted film was released on YouTube last week and has already proved to be a hit with viewers. Produced by Spark44 for Jaguar Land Rover, Brian Fraser, Spark44’s Chief Creative Officer said: “Every driver hates speed bumps. So what better way to demonstrate the capability of our most city-focused vehicle, the Range Rover Evoque, than to pit it against the biggest speed bump anyone has ever seen? We decided to build the world’s largest speed bump to demonstrate just how capable the Range Rover Evoque is not just in the country but in the urban surroundings of Great Suffolk Street in Southwark.

“We then filmed the reactions of the general public as they came to terms with the gigantic structure that had suddenly materialised in their neighbourhood. Bemused pedestrians walked past, curious to see what drivers would do, while joggers, cyclists and skateboarders couldn’t resist going over the top. Except of course the motorists, who found a speed bump that was taller than their cars far too daunting to negotiate. Although a few brave souls attempted to drive over it, to their peril.”
