Although Wise Music Group is perhaps known best for its classical catalogue, classical compositions are far from the only kind Wise Music holds rights to. In fact, our tracks from the sixties are some of our most well-known.
With a catalogue containing tracks from the likes of Manfred Mann, The Zombies, Herman’s Hermits, The Animals, Sammy Davis JR, and others, Wise owns some of the sixties’ best tunes. Not only do these songs sound great to the ears (particularly when paired with advertisements), but some even have incredible histories behind them.
The Honeycombs’ debut track and biggest hit, ‘Have I The Right’, was not only extremely successful during its release in 1964, but has even been hailed as the song that “events post-punk” by music critic Tom Ewing, "which is to say, when I listen to the instrumental break on this record, bright guitar and sharp keyboard slicing tuneless chunks out of each other, it’s not 1964 I’m hearing."
Yet another important single in the Wise catalogue is the Zombie’s minor key, jazz-tinged song, “She’s Not There”. Peaking at No. 2 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart at the beginning of 1964, it eventually landed at No. 297 on Rolling Stone magazine’s 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.
